Friday 27 January 2012
The year 2011 was undoubtedly a one for the EU, with the eurozone’s financial stability, the state of European economies and political uprisings in the Arab world appearing high on the European Council’s agenda. In his latest publication, ‘The European Council in 2011’, released on 24 January, Herman Van Rompuy, president of the Europaen Council, looks back at the institution’s activities in 2011 and provides his personal account of the main decisions taken by the EU’s heads of state or government during the past year. “Safeguarding the eurozone’s financial stability was again the overriding objective during most of this year’s meetings,” he said. The publication includes all 2011 European Council conclusions and statements.
