Sustainable development in Europe

Eurostat, the EU’s statistics office, published a new work, on 15 June, in connection with the United Nations sustainable development conference, Rio+20 (20-22 June). The publication presents 70 sustainable development indicators used to measure and monitor implementation of the EU’s sustainable development strategy. It contains chapters on growth, jobs and the crisis, energy, transport, regional disparities, poverty and social exclusion, waste, how nature is being pushed back, climate change, Europe in a globalised world, the EU’s international commitments, the ageing society and ‘green’ growth. The publication comes with four videos on ‘green’ growth, the ‘green’ economy and poverty.
