Young translators’ contest: Winners announced

The names of the 27 winners of the European Commission’s annual young translators’ contest (Juvenes Translatores), one per member state, were announced on 3 February. More than 3,000 secondary school pupils participated in the contest in November 2011, translating a one-page text in the language combination of their choice. Although many chose English as their source language, there were 148 language combinations in all, the highest level since the launch of the contest. The winners will be invited to Brussels, on 27 March, to receive their prizes. The list of winners is available at
