The EU Council appointed, on 21 February, Francisco Prado-Vilar (Spain), Csilla Hegedüs (Romania), Irma Grigaitiené (Lithania) and Michel Thomas-Penette (Luxembourg) as members of the panel that will be responsible for selecting the sites to be awarded the European Heritage Label (6274/12). The European Heritage Label may be granted to sites that have a strong symbolic - and not only aesthetic - value in terms of European history and heritage (such as monuments, natural, underwater, archaeological, industrial or urban sites, cultural objects, etc).
