European Youth Capital 2014
Wednesday 08 June 2011
Thessaloniki, Heraklion (both in Greece) and Ivanovo (Russia) have been shortlisted for European Youth Capital (EYC) in 2014. The cities have until October 2011 - the deadline for the final vote - to provide further details concerning their programmes, the activities and events they plan to organise and the political development of their application. The EYC title is awarded to an EU city for a period of one year. During this time, the city in question will be offered the opportunity to showcase some elements of its life, and its cultural, political, social and economic development, as linked to youth. In October, the winning city will take over from Antwerp (Belgium, 2011), Braga (Portugal, 2012) and Maribor (Slovenia, 2013).
