European cinema festival on 9 May
Friday 07 May 2010
In connection with the Open Door Day at the EU institutions, on 8 May, Brussels and four other capitals will host the seventh European cinema festival, EuroCine, on 9 May. This year’s festival will premier films in five countries: Belgium, France, Spain, Luxembourg and Italy. “As Robert Schuman said, before becoming a military alliance or an economic entity, Europe must be a cultural community in the highest sense of the term,” commented Commissioner Viviane Reding (justice, fundamental rights and citizenship). In 2011, the festival will take place in Hungary and Poland, ie the two countries that will hold the rotating Council Presidency in 2011.
