Solidarity Fund in France
Friday 13 November 2009
Pawel Samecki, the EU commissioner for regional policy, and Brice Hortefeux, the French minister of the interior, signed, on 13 November, an agreement confirming the assignment of €109.4 million to France from the EU Solidarity Fund, following the devastation caused by Hurricane Klaus in January 2009. This aid will make it possible to offset the public expenditure used for emergency intervention. The following regions and departments will benefit from the aid: Gironde, Landes, Lot-et-Garonne and Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the Aquitaine region; Haute-Garonne, Gers and Hautes-Pyrénées in the Midi-Pyrénées region; and Aude and Pyrénées-Orientales in the Languedoc-Roussillon region.
