Greek framers remove some road barriers
Monday 08 February 2010
Greek farmers, who have been protesting for three weeks in order to demand financial support, decided, on 5 February, to lift the majority of their road barriers, nevertheless maintaining the blockade of the main Greek-Bulgarian border post of Promachonas. Forced to draw up a rigorous plan for budgetary savings deriving from public finances, the Greek government had immediately excluded any financial concessions, but subsequently opened discussions relating to the modernisation of the organisation of the sector.
