Call for Motorways of the Sea projects

Friday 27 November 2009

Seven member states - Sweden, Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, Denmark, Germany, Finlanda and Estonia - launched a joint call for proposals, on 25 November, for Motorways of the Sea projects in the Baltic Sea. A similar call for proposals had been launched at the beginning of November for projects in the North Sea, by Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, the United Kingdom and Norway. The projects selected at the close of this process could take part in the call for European proposals, scheduled for April 2010, which will result in financial aid under the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) programme. To recall, TEN-T rules make it possible to co-finance studies, infrastructures or the setting up of fleet management systems, but not the startup of new maritime links. The startup of new links may, on the other hand, be co-financed by the Marco Polo programme.
