DG Regio gets new name
Monday 23 July 2012
The European Commission’s Directorate-General Regional Policy will have a new name from 1 October: Directorate-General Regional and Urban Policy. The change is meant to “reflect the DG’s greater role in coordinating urban issues,” explains the Commission. The abbreviated form DG Regio will continue to be used. A new temporary task force will also be set up to work on closing Cohesion Fund programmes (Cohesion Fund Closure Unit).
