Wednesday 10 March 2010
Good news for car manufacturers: the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) adopted, on 10 March, a new regulation on the certification of electric and hybrid vehicles. It sets requirements vehicles must meet to be certified and will be incorporated into EU legislation. Concretely, it will enable manufacturers not to have to repeat approval procedures in the different states. In addition to the 27 member states, countries like Turkey, Russia and the Balkan states also signed up to the regulation. Asian nations like Japan and South Korea are also expected to incorporate it into their legislation.
