The EU Council adopted by tacit approval, on 8 March, a decision extending, until 16 March 2011, the measures in support of the effective implementation of the mandate of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY). The decision renews for one year the measures initially adopted in March 2004 (common position 2004/293/CFSP), which bans access to EU territory to any persons acting in a way that obstructs the ICTY’s mandate and those who help persons to evade justice or crimes for which they are indicted by the ICTY. The previous common position (2009/164/CFSP) renewed these measures until 16 March 2010.
