At the beginning of the year, 2,300 entities had registered in the future joint Commission-Parliament register of interest representatives. Since then a steady increase has been observed, a trend that has allowed to reach the symbolic level of 3,000 at the end of August, the European Commission announced, on 6 September. The latest registrations came from companies, associations representing certain business areas, NGOs, consultancy firms, think tanks and academic institutions. A high-level working group of senior members of the European Parliament led by Vice-President Diana Wallis and European Commission Vice-President Maros Sefcovic is currently working on setting up the register. The working group meets again, on 7 September in Strasbourg, to pursue its work on technical issues. The intention is to make the common register operational in June 2011.
