European Commission President José Manuel Barroso appointed, on 2 July, Pieter Van Nuffel, legal advisor in the Commission’s Legal Service, as his new personal representative to the Good Offices Mission of the United Nations in Cyprus. Van Nuffel succeeds César das Neves, who has taken up another assignment.
