The European Commission decided, on 16 March, in the interests of the service, to transfer Philippe Taverne, currently deputy director-general in the Budget Directorate-General, to the post of director-general in the Internal Audit Service. The date of effect will be determined later. The decision anticipates the retirement of the current Director-General of the Internal Audit Service, Brian Gray, on 1 July. Taverne has served in his current role since 1 June 2009.
