EP plenary elects five quaestors

Five quaestors of the European Parliament were elected in a third round of vote, on 18 January, by the plenary. The total number of valid votes was 669. Top of the list is veteran Astrid Lulling (EPP, Luxembourg) with 273 votes, followed by Jim Higgins (EPP, Ireland - 254), Lidia Geringer de Oedenberg (S&D, Poland - 235), Boguslaw Liberadzki (S&D, Poland - 216) and Jiri Mastalka (GUE-NGL, Czech Republic - 207. The quaestors are responsible, under the Bureau’s instructions, for administrative and financial matters of direct concern to deputies. They are in charge of ensuring that MEPs have the infrastructure necessary to exercise their mandate.
