During her visit to Moldova on 21 December, the Commissioner for Trade and European Neighbourhood Policy, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Republic of Moldova concerning an intention of the Commission to provide Moldova with a High Level Policy Advisory Mission to guide and support political and economic reforms. The objective of the agreement is to contribute to accelerating political association and further economic integration between the EU and Moldova. The Advisory Mission will be working with key governmental institutions including the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministries of Justice, Economy, Finance, Interior, Foreign Affairs and European Integration. It will contribute to the implementation of the Programmes of the Moldovan government on ‘European Integration: Freedom, Democracy, Welfare 2009-2013’, as well as on the ‘Stabilisation and Economic Recovery Plan 2009-2011’.
