Development: Natali Prize for journalism

On 3 May, World Press Freedom Day, the European Commission will officially launch the Lorenzo Natali Prize 2010, named after the former development commissioner. The international prize has been awarded every year since 1992, in partnership with Reporters Without Borders and the World Association of Newspapers, for the best journalism on development, democracy and human rights issues. Interested journalists have until 31 August 2010 to apply (
www.prixnatali2010.eu). Prizes totalling €60,000 will be presented to 17 winners from Africa, Europe, Arab world/Middle East, Asia and Latin America/Caribbean. The winners will be announced in December. In 2009, more than 1,000 journalists from 130 countries participated.
