The European Investment Bank agreed, on 23 January, to provide a GBP50 million long-term loan for an ambitious refurbishment project that will improve teaching and research facilities at the University of Edinburgh in the UK. The creation of the new Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation and the refurbishment of the main library and other key departments will also involve the installation of a new energy efficiency network.
