EIB supports SMEs in Rwanda
Wednesday 21 September 2011
The European Investment Bank signed a €8 million loan package, on 19 September, with Banque Rwandaise de Développement (BRD). The loan will provide financing for crucial long-term investments by local companies, mainly SMEs, to support growth and job creation. Banking activity in Rwanda focuses predominantly on providing short-term lending and the lack of access to long-term credit is considered a major hindrance to the country’s economic growth.
