Commission to release 7.58 mn euro under EGF

In the wake of the Employment and Social Affairs Council, which gave its opinion, on 8 March, the European Parliament adopted, on 9 March, three decisions mobilising €7.58 million under the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF). It now remains for the European Commission to release the funds: €6.20 million for former workers of the German automotive group Karmann and €1.38 million for workers made redundant in Lithuania (€1.12 million for former workers in the building sector and €258,163 for former workers of the refrigerator manufacturer AB Snaigé and two of its supplies). The support measures will be co-financed by the member states and include training, vocational orientation, job search and assistance for entrepreneurship.
