Stefan Lehne, a leading expert on European foreign policy and international security, has joined Carnegie Europe as a visiting scholar. Between 2009 and 2011, Lehne served as director-general for political affairs at the Austrian Ministry for European and International Affairs. He also held a number of positions at the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union. His research at Carnegie Europe will focus on the post-Lisbon Treaty development of the EU’s foreign policy. Founded in 2007, Carnegie Europe is the European centre of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a private, nonprofit organisation dedicated to advancing cooperation between nations and promoting active international engagement by the United States.
