Production still dropping in EU

Seasonally adjusted industrial production declined by 0.1% in both the eurozone and the EU27 in November 2011, compared with October 2011. In October, production slipped by 0.3% in both zones, Eurostat reported, on 12 January. In the EU27, production of non-durable consumer goods fell by 0.6%. Durable consumer goods increased by 0.1% in the EU27. Capital goods remained stable. Intermediate goods increased by 0.1%. Production of energy dropped by 0.2%. Among member states for which data are available, industrial production fell in ten and rose in nine. The greatest decreases were registered in Ireland (-9.4%), Sweden (-3%) and Slovakia (-2.4%), and the largest increases in Czech Republic (+2.7%), Poland (+1.6%) and Greece, France and Lithuania (+1.1% each).
In November 2011, compared with November 2010, industrial production fell by 0.3% in the eurozone and by 0.2% in the EU27. In the EU27, energy production slipped by 5.8%. Durable consumer goods declined by 2.1%. Non-durable consumer goods fell by 0.7%. Intermediate goods dropped by 0.8%. Capital goods rose by 4.5%. Industrial production fell in nine member states and increased in ten. The largest decreases were registered in Greece (-8.2%), Spain (-7%), Ireland (-4.4%), Malta (-4.3%) and Italy (-4.1%), and the highest increases in Poland (+9.9%), Latvia (+8.5%), Czech Republic (+5.4%), Romania (+3.3%) and Germany (+3.2%).
