Klaus Schierhackl of Austria has been appointed as the new president of ASECAP, the European Association of Operators of Toll Road Infrastructures. The election of the new president took place on 29 May on the occasion of the 39th ASECAP Study and Information Days. Schierhackl, chief financial officer at ASFINAG, the Austrian Motorway and Expressway Network Operator, will take the lead of the European association for a term of two years, replacing his Spanish counterpart José Luis Feito, president of the Spanish Association of Tolled Motorways (ASETA). Schierhackl has had a distinguished career in road transport, which started in 1991 at the Institute for Transport Economics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, and quickly brought him to leading positions within ASFINAG. www.asecap.com
