Inspections at plastic pipe manufacturers confirmed
Thursday 12 July 2012
On 11 July, the European Commission confirmed that on 26 June, its officials undertook unannounced inspections in several member states at the premises of companies active in the sector of plastic pipes and plastic pipe fittings used in the sewage industry. The Commission suspects that the companies concerned may have violated EU anti-trust rules that prohibit cartels (Article 101 TFEU). The Commission states that the aim of the investigation is to clarify the facts concerning the possible participation by a number of undertakings in agreements and/or concerted practices. The Commission recalls that this type of investigation is a preliminary step in cases of suspected anti-competitive practices and does not prejudge the outcome of the investigation itself.
